Wake advisory in effect for St. Mary

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office has issued a wake advisory across the parish, according to a news release.
Officials issued the advisory because of the higher than average levels of Bayou Teche and Lower Atchafalaya River and the potential for property damage to occur from wakes caused by boats, the release said.
If you are boating in an area where the water is high you need to slow down. Be mindful of your wake and the potential damage you could cause. Members of the Marine Division are patrolling on the water. You will be cited if you are found to be operating a boat recklessly causing damage to property along the bayou.
