Sheriff: Amelia man choked woman

A 31-year-old Amelia man was charged Wednesday with domestic abuse battery after he choked a woman and pushed her against a wall, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Amvar Reyes-Machado, 31, of Clines Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 10:18 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of domestic abuse battery-strangulation.
Deputies responded to a report of domestic abuse at a home in Amelia. During the investigation, deputies collected evidence that Reyes-Machado grabbed a woman by the throat and pushed her against a wall. Reyes-Machado was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Kaitlyn N. Miller, 17, of Rizzo Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:48 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of simple battery.
A school resource officer responded to a reported fight at Patterson High School. During the investigation, the school resource officer collected evidence that Miller struck a female juvenile. Miller was booked into parish jail and later released on $500 bail.
—Leonard Aucoin, 38, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
—Phyllis Dontay, 62, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics detectives, with assistance from the Berwick Police Department, conducted a search warrant in the 2000 block of River Road in Berwick. During the search, detectives located several bags of marijuana, a pipe, a digital scale, and a firearm in the home.
Officers learned that Aucoin and Dontay were selling marijuana from the location. Both were jailed with no bail set.
—Toney Thibodeaux Jr., 35, of Carlon Drive in Des Allemands, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Suboxone and possession of clonazepam.
Narcotics detectives investigating a complaint of possible illegal narcotics activity made contact with Thibodeaux on Belleview Front Street in Berwick. While speaking with detectives, Thibodeaux admitted to having marijuana on his person.
As the investigation progressed, detectives located the marijuana and recovered a pill bottle in his pants pocket that contained additional marijuana. Detectives also found a Suboxone strip and a container with clonazepam pills. Thibodeaux was jailed with no bail set.
—Kayla Williams, 28, of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of no insurance, no driver’s license, stop sign and yield sign violations and no proof of registration in vehicle.
A deputy monitoring school zone traffic on Southeast Boulevard and Delmar Avenue in Bayou Vista observed a vehicle run a stop sign. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Williams.
The deputy found that Williams did not have a valid driver’s license or proof of registration and that she was operating the vehicle without insurance. Williams was released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 21.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Quincy Toups, 36, of Willis Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to comply with drug court on remaining after forbidden, two warrants for failure to comply with drug court on the charge of theft, and two warrants for failure to comply with drug court on simple burglary.
Officers located Toups on Sixth Street where he was arrested on 16th Judicial District Court warrants. Toups was jailed with bail set at $500,000.
—Peter Parrish, 66, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:58 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle on La. 182 near Cottonwood Street traveling out of its lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver of the vehicle identified as Parrish. A driver’s license check revealed that Parrish had a suspended driver’s license. Parrish was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Steven Boudreaux, 44, of Tournament Boulevard in Berwick, was arrested at 8:21 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of DWI first offense and improper lane usage. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
