ROSEMARY LODRIGUE
May 30, 1929-October 21, 2016
On Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, Rosemary Lodrigue, the sweetest, kindest lady of St. Mary Parish, was called to her heavenly home.
Rosemary left this world as she lived it, surrounded by friends and family who adored her. Now reunited with the love of her life for 66 years, those left to cherish her wonderful memory can say she lived every moment of her 87 years.
A lifelong resident of Berwick, Rosemary leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Dorothy Anthony of Houma; her son, Kenneth Lodrigue of Patterson; seven grandchildren, Byron Anthony and his wife, Tina, of Houma, Michael Anthony and his wife, Catina, of Gibson, Kristie Sistruck of Morgan City, Kevin Lodrigue, Kenneth Lodrigue Jr. and his wife, Kasi, of Ponchatoula, Patty Sons Fabre and her husband, Brice, of Bayou Vista, and Monica Sons Mabile and her husband, Joe, of Bayou Vista; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Ida Crappell of Charenton and Eunice Cunningham of Berwick; and her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Sons of Bayou Vista and Leona Durham of Benton, Illinois.
Alongside her husband, Robert Lodrigue Sr., Rosemary joined in heaven her parents, Chester Sons Sr. and Eva Hutchinsons Sons; her son, Robert “Butch” Lodrigue Jr.; daughter-in-law, Shelley Lodrigue; her grandson, Robert Murphy Lodrigue; brothers, Chester Sons Jr. and Lawrence Sons; sisters, Eva Sons Landers and Dorothy Mae Sons; and one step-great-granddaughter, Paige Chemin.
Rosemary was a proud member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion, and East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. She was known best for playing “Taps” on the bugle during military honors.
Spending time with ALL her grandchildren and children was her absolute favorite pastime in her life. Everyone knew she loved playing bingo, especially every Sunday and Tuesday. She also loved gardening and painting the various yard decorations her husband created. Rosemary will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A time of visitation and remembrance will be held today, Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with an evening ceremony taking place at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, from 9 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m., all at Hargrave Funeral Home. Following services, Rosemary will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert Lodrigue Sr., in the Berwick Cemetery.
