ARA MAY DEGRAVELLES HALL

Ara May deGravelles Hall, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016, at her home, Avalon Plantation, in Patterson, LA. Ara May was born December 30, 1925 in Jennings, LA and grew up in Opelousas, LA. She was a graduate of the Class of 1945 at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette where she received a bachelor’s degree in Science, and was the treasurer of Alpha Chi Honor Society. Upon graduation, Ara May worked as a phlebotomist at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia until the birth of her children. She was an active member in the Episcopal Church in New Iberia, Franklin, Covington and Morgan City. Ara May was also a member of the Louisiana Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution.
She is survived by her five children; Ara May Hubbard of Savannah, GA, James Clifton Hall III (Wendy) of Houston, TX, William Bateman Hall (Dianna) of Savannah, GA, Mary Ortte Young (Jeff) of Covington, LA, and Haifleigh St. Clair Pritchard (Tommy) of Gainesville, VA. Ara May enjoyed the love of 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ara May is proceeded in death by her husband, James Clifton Hall, Jr.; mother and father, Ara May Zenor and William Decatur deGravelles, brother; Dr. William Decatur deGravelles, Jr.
Services for Ara May will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Morgan City, LA on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Visitation will be at 9am and the service and Holy Eucharist will begin at 10 a.m. Internment will immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in New Iberia, LA.
