Berwick claims victory over Franklin in district action

Madison Carline pumped in a game-high 19 points, leading the Berwick Lady Panthers to a 40-35 District 8-3A victory over the Franklin Lady Hornets Friday at the FSHS Gym.
Berwick earned a 10-5 lead at the end of the first quarter before grabbing an 18-14 advantage at intermission.
Berwick held a 27-19 advantage after three quarters of action before using a 13-6 surge in the final period for the 40-35 win.
Leading scorers for the Lady Hornets were Kenyoda Cormier with 12 points on 3 FGs, 1 3Fg, 3 of 8 FTs;. Kaira Butler with 10 points on 4 FGs and 2 of 5 FTs; Aaliyah Smith with 7 points on 3 FGs and 1 of 2 FTs; Sta’Trail Butler 1 FG and 1 of 2 FTs; Jazmin Brent 2 points on 1 FG and Jazmine Byers with 1 point on 1 of 5 FTs.
Berwick’s leading scorers included Madison Carline with 19 points on 6 FGs and 7 of 13 FTs; Jordan Lipari with 9 points on 2 FGs and 5 of 10 FTs; Mary Jordan Melancon with 7 points on 2 3FGs and 1 of 4 FTs; Sydney Aucoin and Tia Whitehead each had 2 points.
