CAMERON BAILEY
July 1, 2005 - July 15, 2016
A Tribute to a Beautiful Life
Cameron Bailey, a charming 11-year-old boy left this world on the wings of angels on July 15, 2016. This child of Christ lived life with Jesus in his heart. As described by his father Chad Bailey, he was a “mini me” whose passion for hunting, fishing, swimming, baseball and football was shared with his two brothers, Tyler and Owen.
His mother, Cherie Babineaux Bailey, will cherish the memories of how his big heart and flashy smile could light up a room. Laughter will forever live in the hearts of his brothers as they recall how his silliness always accomplished the goal of making them laugh.
Cameron was a cuddle-bug kind of kid who was courageous and independent. Also known as Camo and Cam, he sought to be an original, proudly proclaiming that his favorite color was hot pink and wearing a tuxedo when others were in suits.
He was a tender boy who was loved by all who met him, from babies to elderly grown-ups, because he had such a big heart, with the never-ending capacity to love them back. His many friends are a true testament to his title as the family socialite.
He was known for being a “cool kid” who could go with the flow, and he was admired for his creative ingenuity. He liked challenges and enjoyed figuring his way out of tricky situations. He also rather enjoyed a fun day playing in the mud.
He will be missed by his many friends, schoolmates, teachers and staff at Our Lady of Fatima School. He would have been a sixth-grader this coming school year. His favorite parts of school were his friends, recess and PE. He was the only boy in his class to win the presidential award in physical education.
Cameron once wrote that if he could change the world, he would make it a happier, safer and cleaner place.
He is survived by his parents, Chad and Cherie Bailey; two brothers, Tyler and Owen Bailey; paternal grandparents Jeannie and Mickey Bailey of Lafayette; great-grandmother Emma Bailey of New Iberia; maternal grandparents Winnie and Bud Lee of New Iberia and Kenneth and Linda Babineaux of New Iberia, and great-grandmother Lucille Babineaux; aunts and uncles Bret and Serena Bailey of Lafayette, Jamie and Christina Babineaux of Wylie, Texas, Cheramie and Victor DiMmena of Shelton, Connecticut, Lindy Monteleon of Ashville, North Carolina, Sarah Lee of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kimberly and Wes Powell of Katy, Texas, and 109 cousins.
A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 7 p.m.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 8 a.m. until time of services at Martin and Castille Funeral Home located at 330 St. Landry St. in Lafayette, Louisiana.
