Amy Mae Champanier, 84, a resident of Patterson, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Teche Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Amy was born on March 27, 1930, in Bayou Chene, the daughter of Mose and Violet Written Champanier.
In her early years, Amy enjoyed being in the outdoors cutting wood with her family. She loved getting to spend time visiting with her family but loved spending time with her sister Myrtle who took care of her for over 50 years.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sister, Myrtle Austin and husband, R.D., of Patterson; two nieces, Agnes Hebert and husband, Kenneth, of White Castle, and Carol Howse and husband, Paul, of Patterson; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Louise Champanier; three brothers, Adam Champanier, Alvin Champanier and Leo Thompson; one niece, Jessie Mae Munns; and one nephew, Terry Mitchell.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church with The Rev. John Locascio officiating. A visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home. The visitation resumed from 9 a.m. until dismissal for church today at the funeral home. Following the services, Amy was laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
