Funeral services celebrating the life of Annie-Kathryn Boatner Degeyter will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015, at 1 p.m., at The Crossing Place Fellowship in Franklin with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Rob Miller of Family Life Church in Lafayette will lead the services. She will be laid to rest in All Saints Cemetery in Loreauville, with Fr. Ed Degeyter conducting the cemetery services.
Annie was born on December 7, 1987 in Franklin, where she also spent her early years. She lived for various times in Florida as well as in Lafayette, where she graduated from Teurlings Catholic High School. Following graduation she attended LSU in Baton Rouge, majoring in Environmental Engineering while maintaining a 3.8 average. She has resided in Houston, Texas for the past five years, where she passed away at the tender age of 27 on Thursday, January 15, 2015.
Annie is survived by her mother, Beverly Ann Boatner; her father, Dr. Roland J. Degeyter, MD, and his wife, Monica; two sisters, Jill Claire Degeyter and Laura Ann Degeyter; two nephews, Darron James Degeyter and Hunter Paul Degeyter; her maternal grandfather, John Ab Boatner Jr.; the love of her life, John Van; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Carrier Boatner; her paternal grandmother, Marion Gauthier Derouen; and her paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Roy Degeyter Sr. and Viola Degeyter.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Ab Boatner IV, Ab Daniel Coulon, Aaron Coulon, Dylan Boatner, Jacob Boatner and Ifeanyi Janarus Okora. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Darron and Hunter.
