ARISTICLE BROUSSARD
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 23, 2014, at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers in Lafayette for CW2 Aristicle Broussard (Ret. US Army), 77, who passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at his home in Youngsville after a brief battle with ALS.
A Private Military Graveside Service was held at Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Baldwin.
The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, was the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass.
He is survived by his two sons, Tom Broussard, Alan Broussard and his wife, Deidre; one daughter, Anna Masterson and her husband, Mitch; five grandchildren, Drake Masterson, Greer Masterson, Paul Broussard, Jacob Broussard and Adam Broussard; two siblings, Lillie Broussard and Wardel Nathan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Jung Hi; his parents, Mabel and Alfred Broussard; and one sibling Alfred Broussard Jr.
CW2 Broussard (“Art”) was born in Baldwin. Immediately after graduating from high school, he voluntarily enlisted in the US Army. He proudly served his country for 20 years, completing tours in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. He completed his final years of military service stationed at Fort Polk, La. While stationed in Korea, he met and married Jung Hi Yi. They remained husband and wife for 53 years, with her death preceding his by 6 days.
After retiring from the military, Art was employed for 21 years with Degussa (formerly Ashland Chemicals), retiring in 2000. For nearly 40 years, they resided in Baldwin, subsequently moving to Youngsville, La. to live closer to their children. Art lived a quiet and simple life. He enjoyed spending time at home and working with leather craft and guns in his workshop. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent at home with family.
Visitation was held at Delhomme Funeral Home, on Friday, August 22, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting hours continued Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers were members of the US Army.
