Betty Jo Stage Sargee, 84, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born on May 4, 1930, in Atwood, Kansas, the daughter of Perl C. and Marjorie Dean Stage.
Betty loved planting flowers, embroidering and doing her puzzle books. She liked to play games especially a game call Wahoo, which she would sit for hours at a time and play. She enjoyed listening to country and gospel music. Betty loved to watch football especially any game where the Pittsburgh Steelers were playing as Terry Bradshaw was her quarterback. The family knew to never call Betty on Sunday because she wouldn’t answer the phone when the football game was on. Of all the things Betty did in her life the thing she enjoyed the most was spending time with her family.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by seven children, Claudie Kennon Sargee of Morgan City, Linda Purdion and Bill Nink of Houston, Jerry Sargee and wife Karen of Riverdale, Georgia, Gary Sargee Sr. and wife Marlene of Patterson, Claudie Sargee Jr. and wife Margaret of Milton, Rhonda Comeaux and husband Perry of Labadieville, Marjorie Turner and husband Harris Jr. of Bunkie; 20 grandchildren, David Purdion Jr., Ronald Purdion, Christopher Sargee, Becky Bourdier, Alisa Abshire, Kennon Wade Sargee, Gary Sargee Jr., Tabitha Treadwell, Christina Sargee, Alex Sargee, Von Turner, Samantha Sargee, Jerry Allen Sargee, Harris Turner III, Spencer Turner, Derek Orgeron, Ashley Arcement, Perry Comeaux Jr., Wayne Comeaux and Amber Lemoine. Betty is also survived by 36 great-grandchildren, Hunter Sargee, Lukas Sargee, Gabriel Sargee, Isaiah Sargee, Cayden Sargee, Graham Sargee, Cain Naquin, Alec Robinson, David Purdion III, Lexus Purdion, Brett Sargee, Drew Sargee, Robby Gossett, Kaci Gossett, Skylar Bourdier, Tyler Bourdier, Christian Sargee, Evan Sargee, Carson Sargee, Claire Holt, Averie Sargee, Madison Abshire, Gracee Sargee, Gavin Orgeron, Hailey Comeaux, Meah Vining, Laiten Bertrand, Cameron Comeaux, Stella Comeaux, Mason Comeaux, Ayden Turner, Nathanial Turner, Mason Turner, Harris Turner IV, Baylee Lemoine and Jackson Lemoine.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claudie Sargee Sr.; a son-in-law, David Purdion Sr.; four sisters, Aubrey Waldrip, Ione Anderson, Leone Butler and Helen Ortego; and two brothers, O.J. Stage and Leroy Stage.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Twin City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 1, at Twin City Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Cuvillier officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, in Bay Springs Cemetery in Chopin.
The family would like to thank Patterson Healthcare, the sixth floor nurses at Teche Regional Medical Center, Journey Hospice, and especially Dr. Dishman for all they did for Ms. Betty.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Sargee, Kennon Wade Sargee, David Purdion Jr., Jerry Allen Sargee, Gary Sargee Jr., Derek Orgeron, Von Turner and Harris Turner III. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Purdion, Alex Sargee, Spencer Turner, Perry Comeaux Jr. and Wayne Comeaux.
