Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton during a 3 p.m. Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Charley Soprano, a native and lifelong resident of Charenton who passed away Monday, February 1, 2016, at the Franklin Health Care Center. He will be laid to rest with his wife in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Father Cedric Sonnier will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at the church from 1 p.m. until time of Mass.
Mr. Charley was a veteran of the United States Army having honorably served his country and fellow man during World War II in Okinawa. He will be remembered as a hard worker and from his many years as owner and operator of Soprano’s Grocery in Charenton. He was also an avid gardener.
Survivors include his children, Phyllis Soprano Edwards of Franklin and Phillip Soprano of Charenton; his sister, Anna Mae Foti of St. Martinville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Simoneaux Soprano; his parents, Peter Soprano Sr. and Venera Anna Farinella Soprano; seven brothers, Camille, Joseph, Peter Jr., Samuel, Anthony, Francis and Chester; one sister, Sarah Soprano Verrette.
