FLORA MAE BOUTTE (GREEN) IRELAND

A Celebration of Life for Flora Mae Boutte (Green) Ireland, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at noon at Triumph Baptist Church, 1005 Iberia St., Franklin, La. Rev Terry Lee Joseph will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, from 8 a.m. until the commencement if the funeral service at Triumph Baptist Church. The Order of Eastern Star Funeral Ritual will be at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Ireland will be interred in St. Jules Cemetery.
Flora Mae Boutte (Green) Ireland was born on Dec. 17, 1931 to Louise Green and Glasco Jack Boutte in Charenton, La. Death’s intrusion appeared to claim a beautiful flower on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at 12:45 p.m.
Flora Mae was the third of seven children, she was reared in the Four Corners community where she lived with her grandparents, Leon and Flora Sorrell Green until she met her Navy man, Murphy J. Ireland, she married him on May 28, 1951 and three children were born to this union: Wanda, Murphy Jr., and Monica. They also reared four of their grand-children in their home: LaShawn Beverly Howard, Beant’e Beverly Holmes, Andranaye Harding and Wydrick Harding until each went off to college.
She was baptized at Triumph Baptist Church by the late Rev. Octave Vincent where she has remained a faithful member for over 60 years and currently under the leadership of Rev. Carl F. Lewis Sr. She was active in her church throughout the years, serving as an active member of the Usher Board, Home Mission, Pastor’s Aide, a former Stewardess, Beautification and Kitchen Club member. Her life has been dedicated to nurturing her family and giving back to the youth in her community. She has served as a sponsor-leader of many youth oriented programs in the Franklin area: a Brownie Troop, a Girl Scout Troop and with the Adah Chapter Youth Fraternity. Many countless volunteer hours were spent with the academic, sports, or extracurricular clubs and organizations that her children and grandchildren participated with. She never tired, for her life of service is built on her trust and faith in God. “Let your light so shine before men, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Flora was a member for over 49 years in Adah Chapter #20 Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall affiliated, Louisiana Jurisdiction, a charter member of Rose M. Bates Court #36 Heroines of Jericho, and Izella G. Bell Court #8 Order of the Amaranth. She was an organizer of Jackson Henry Post 10016 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, later becoming a life member and currently serving as Treasurer of Roberton Bourdier Jackson Henry Post 4201 VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She touched many lives in her profession as a housekeeper and a cook and settled in as a Food Technician with the St. Mary Parish School System in which she retired in 1997. “Mommy, Mother, & MaDear, Ms. Flo” is what she is called by all of her children and many of her extended family; and “Momo and Momo Flo” by all her grand-children and by strangers but to all others; “A Child of the King!”
A beautiful life to remember, forever to be cherished in the hearts of her children: Wanda Ireland Stewart (Michael Sr.) of Baton Rouge, La.; Murphy Ireland Jr. (Debra) of Thibodaux, La., Monica Ireland Harding (Dwayne) of Franklin, La.; two sisters: Mary Francis Brown of Port Arthur, Texas and Clara Bell Lewis of Jeanerette, La.; her extended family: Patrick Parker (Gwendolyn) of Franklin, La. and John Parker Ireland (LaSaundra) of Lubbock, Texas; and Beulah Bowers Richardson (Karl) of Houston, Texas; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two god-children and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents. Louise Green and Jack Boutte; four siblings: Menola Thomas, Horace Green, Allen Green, and Wilbert Green; her in laws, Joseph Sr. and Maria Foster Ireland, brothers and sisters in law: Robert Thomas Sr., Ruben Brown, Douglas Lumpkin, Myrtle Green, Joseph Ireland Jr., and Joyce Ireland; nieces and nephews.
