Fred Wilson
Fred Wilson, a native of Lafayette and longtime resident of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away in his home on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, joining Mazie, his wife of 64 years, who passed last year.
Fred was a graduate of LSU, a veteran of World War II, and a retired petroleum engineer with 50 combined years of service with Mobil and Kerr McGee.
His first priority was always his wife and children, filling his spare time with “honey dos” and home projects. He loved nature and maintained his property always with the resident wildlife in mind.
Fred was always quick to lend a helping hand, as well as share his talents and skills with neighbors and friends. In addition, he volunteered regularly at church and local organizations. His hobbies included carpentry, photography and World War II history studies.
He is survived by his three daughters, Donna, Cheryl and Kay; his sons-in-law, Jim, Bill and Brian; and grandchildren, Jeanette, Cameron and Erin.
A self-made independent man, he will forever be a mentor and inspiration for those who knew and loved him.
Services will be held at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. A potluck dinner will follow the services. All are welcome to attend.
Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Edmond, Oklahoma.
