GAYDELL E. SIMMONS

December 8, 1931 — April 10, 2015
Gaydell E. Simmons, a native and lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at the age of 83.
A natural caregiver, Gaydell was proud of her husband’s work as a coach throughout the state. Although they had no biological children of their own, Gaydell and Mike touched the lives of many young athletes throughout the years. One of her greatest joys was preparing meals for her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her Irish stew, which she cooked every St. Patrick’s day.
Those left to cherish Gaydell’s memory are two sisters, Carolyn Sue Gaspar Sanford and Frankie Lyn Regan; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Roy “Mike” G. Simmons; her parents, Emmadell and Frank and Gaspar Jr.; and two brothers, Randle and Arthur Gaspar.
Visitation was held today, Monday, April 13, 2015, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Gaydell was laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum next to her husband, Mike. They were reunited after five years apart.
