GILBERT GIROIR

Gilbert Giroir, age 82, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, Louisiana, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016. Work allowed Gilbert to travel the world and he later owned and operated Boat Fixers in Morgan City in 1975. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of Mason Lodge 205 in Morgan City. After his family, his greatest passion was being a musician. He was a self-taught fiddle player and devoted 15 years of his talent entertaining patrons of Mulate’s in New Orleans.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Rowena Rini Giroir; his sister, Annabelle Fontenot and her husband, Carol; four children, Randy Giroir, Cheryl Percle, Connie Gilmore and Barbara Hebert; four grandchildren, Casey Eschette, Hailey Gilmore, Brie Gilmore and Michelle Arnold; five great-grandchildren, Haven Wiggins, Kyle Wiggins, Brennan Sobol, Bryce Barrilleaux and Lauren Boudreaux; and many nieces, nephews and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ailene Comeaux Giroir; father, Augustine Giroir; son, Rodney Giroir; sister and her husband, Mable and Uric Hebert; grandson, Cory Percle; son-in-law, Dwayne Gilmore; brother-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Rini; and nephew, Byron Fontenot.
In keeping with Gilbert’s wishes, a memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Hargrave Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until time of services at 7:30 p.m. with services being conducted by the Masonic Lodge 205 in honor of Gilbert.
