Harold D. Fike

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Harold D. Fike, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014. The Rev. Chad Thibodeaux, pastor of Vatican Baptist Church, will conduct the service. Cherrie Lombes, soloist, will perform “Amazing Grace,” “You Are Mine,” and “I Call You To My Father’s House.”
Harold is survived by two daughters, Charlene Lombes of Bayou Vista and Charlotte F. and her husband, Kevin Savoie of Patterson; one son, Thomas and his wife, Jennifer Fike, of Cankton; one brother-in-law, Merlin Broussard of Baton Rouge; one sister, Wanda Gauthreaux of Gulf Port, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Dot Broussard of Otis; his grandchildren, Chanse and Cherrie Lombes of New Iberia, Rebecca L. and Shane DesOrmeaux of Duson, Sarah Lombes of Bayou Vista, Kwin and Megan Savoie of Lafayette, Kris Savoie of Bayou Vista, Kimberly Savoie of Harvey, Kory Savoie of Patterson, Shawn Fike of Lafayette, Denaye Fike of Cankton, Kelsie F. and Trent Duplechin of Carencro, Shelbie Fike and Joey Winn of Carencro; 14 great-grandchildren; and special family friends, Julie and Hulin Porterpan and Mercy Milton.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara “Bonnie” Broussard Fike; two sons, Michael (infant) and Robert Fike; his parents, Loyce and J.E. Fike Sr.; one brother, J.E. Fike Jr.; one sister, Rebecca “Sue” F. Breaux; and one son-in-law, Clamey A. Lombes “C.J.” of Bayou Vista.
Harold was born in Mounds on March 23, 1934. He was a strong man and a wonderful husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1953, and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked at Halliburton Co. offices in New Iberia, Morgan City and Lafayette for 25 years before his retirement. He also worked with his brother at H2O Inc. of Lafayette, and was a driving instructor for Southwest Safety Training Center of Lafayette.
Pallbearers for the services will be Chanse Lombes, Kwin Savoie, Kris Savoie, Shawn Fike, Kory Savoie and Shane DesOrmeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Kobi Billiot-Lombes and Kaleb Hue.
