JEAN VENETIS COLEY
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Jean Venetis Coley, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 9 p.m. at her residence.
The Rev. John Wamsley, Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church conducted the funeral services. Burial took place in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Jean, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Jesse Touchstone and the former Mary Gandy.
Jean was a devout Christian, a member of the Salvation Army, the Lafayette Chapter Eastern Star #46 and Grace Presbyterian Church. Jean was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, Hospice of Acadiana and the American Cancer Society. She loved to fish, spend time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family, friends and members of her church.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Pete Venetis Sr. and wife, Mona; and Stephen Alan Venetis and wife, Patricia; her grandsons, Christopher S. Venetis and wife, Tara; and Billy P. Venetis Jr. and his wife, Carrie; her granddaughters, Jennifer V. Couvillion and husband, Kevin; Elizabeth V. Provine and husband, Mike; and Jessica Lynn Venetis; and her 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, George P. Venetis; her son, George D. Venetis; and her second husband, Virgil R. Coley.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, March 7, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Venetis, Billy Pete Venetis Jr., Michael Provine, Kevin Couvillion, Paul Davis and Charles McGowen.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, especially her nurse Patti, Dr. James Cole and her caretakers, Lisa, Carolyn and Rose for the loving compassionate care and joy they gave Ms. Jean.
