Mr. John was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away at the age of 87 on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Maison Teche Nursing Center in Jeanerette. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Philippines during World War II. Following his military service, he married the love of his life, Joyce, and the two started their family. He began what would become a lifelong career in the oilfield in 1951 with Exxon (then Humble Oil) and retired in 1986, after 35 years of dedicated service. John was a people person, never meeting a stranger. He enjoyed traveling and Sunday afternoon get-togethers with family and friends. But his passion in life was growing and tending to his rose garden. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
