LA THI VU

La Thi Vu, 83, a native of Bui Chu, Vietnam, and a longtime resident of Amelia, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her five sons, Du Van Nguyen, Phong Ngoc Nguyen, Ba Van Hoang, Ho Van Nguyen and Trung Van Nguyen; six daughters, Khuyen Nguyen Tran, Vong Thi Nguyen, Luu Thi Nguyen, Lua Thi Nguyen, Chin Thi Nguyen and Mung Thi Nguyen; 53 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ho Pham; and a sister, Tua Pham.
La was preceded in death by her husband, Nhu Van Nguyen; her parents, a sister, a daughter, a grandson, and a great-great-grandson.
She was a faithful member of Thanh Gia (Holy Family) Catholic Church.
A prayer service will be held today, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at 7 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. A Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mass at 6 p.m. The Visitation will continue after the Mass until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. La will be laid to rest in St. Andrew Cemetery.
