Leroy Gant Sr.

Leroy Gant Sr., 78, a native and resident of Patterson, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 2:04 p.m. at his residence.
Visitation will be observed at Good Hope Baptist Church of Patterson on Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. Burial rites will be read at the church Saturday at 11 a.m., the Rev. Patrick T. Jones officiating. Interment will be in Home Industrial Cemetery of Patterson.
Survivors include a son, Leroy Gant Jr. of Patterson; two daughters, Wanda G. Simons and Rita L. Gant, both of Opelousas; two stepdaughters, Carolyn J. Otis of New Iberia and Veronica J. Raymond of Hawthorne, Calif.; two brothers, Calvin Grant of Chicago and Eddie Gant of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Hattie Otis Porter, Parlie Howze and Debra Grant of Memphis, Tenn., and Carolyn Grant of Texas; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, 10 sisters and nine brothers.
