Lucy “Belle” Grivas

Lucy “Belle” Grivas, a native of Brooklyn, New York, and a resident of Morgan City for the past 37 years, passed away Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Teche Regional Medical Center at the age of 68.
Belle leaves to cherish her memory four children, Nick Morris and his wife, Darlene, Chris Morris and his wife, Jennifer, Ann Morris, and Tina Morris; one brother, Peter Grivas; one sister, Irene Kokolis; eight grandchildren, Steven, Jesse, Lindsey, Lacey, Johnny, Christina, Jamie and Shayla; and three great-grandchildren, Cole, Ayden and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nickolas Grivas; her mother, Christina Grivas; and her longtime companion, John Cornwell.
For the past nine years, Belle aided children on their way to school at Bayou Vista Elementary as the crossing guard on Middle Road. A honest person, Belle amazed her family with her strength and courage. Belle was a loving and kind mother but most importantly, she was a devoted grandmother. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Graveside services will follow in the St. Andrew Cemetery in Amelia.
