MARTHA KELLY GILCHRIST
December 24, 1947 — August 19, 2015
Martha Kelly Gilchrist, 67, a resident of Bayou L’Ourse, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
Martha was born on December 24, 1947, in Morgan City, the daughter of Harold and Ruby Sanders Kelly.
Martha was a strong woman that didn’t give up on life, life gave up on her. She had long painful days, but at the end there was no pain. She passed surrounded by her family she loved so much.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted and loving husband, Hubert Gilchrist; her loving mother, Ruby Kelly; five children, Denisa Acosta and husband, Gary, Rodney Gilchrist and wife, Tonal, Joseph Gilchrist, Nona Campo and husband, Rodney, and Mona Gilchrist; and 12 grandchildren, Renee Pellegrin and husband, Luke, Chantell Bracamontes and husband, Seth, Ali Azadi, Hubert Aucoin and wife, Jennifer, Whitney Sampey and wife, Brooke, Joseph Gilchrist Jr., Tara Azadi, Destiney Gilchrist and companion, Daniel, Kenneth Hebert III, Lacie Sampey, Rodney Gilchrist Jr. and Daniel Gilchrist. Martha is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Kowen, Mackenzie, Chloe, Kamryn, AMyah, Karlyee and Meya Ryan; and seven brothers and sisters, Lois Kelly, Cheryl Clines and husband, James, Carolyn Kelly, Harold J. Kelly and wife, Kim, Dariel Kelly, Nenia Albo, and Paula Migues and husband, Cory.
Martha was preceded in death by her father, Harold Kelly; one son, Hubert Gilchrist Jr.; and grandmother, Edma Mendoza Kelly Pearce.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Gilchrist, Harold J. Kelly, Rodney Gilchrist Jr., Whitney Sampey III, Rodney Campo, Hubert Aucoin, Seth Bracamontes and John Gilchrist.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming from 8 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday. Following the services, Martha will be laid to rest with her son in the Morgan City Cemetery.
