MARY CELINA GUIDRY MASON

June 18, 1969 ~ June 22, 2016
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin for Mary Celina Guidry Mason, a native of Morgan City and a current resident of Duson, who passed away at the age of 47 on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at Ibert’s from 1 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. Bro. Blaise Smith will conduct the memorial service. A private inurnment will be held by the family at a later date.
Mary was an animal lover through and through and enjoyed taking care of any and all kinds of animals. Another of her passions in life was restoring old furniture bringing life to it. She loved visiting thrift stores and couldn’t pass up a garage sale. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, James Mason of Duson; her mother and step-father, Jaynece Bevills Thibodeaux and Telesmar “Blackie” Thibodeaux of Scott; one daughter, Jessica Bernard of Mobile, AL; one son, Tyler Voisin of Centerville; three step-children, James Brewer, Edward Mason and Amber Brewer; one grandchild who was the light of her life, Khali Voisin; one step-sister, Rhonda Bearb and her husband, Tommy of Rayne; two step-brothers, Shernal Thibodeaux and his wife, Jackie of Mire; and Donnie Thibodaux of Crowley; six step grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilmo Joseph Guidry Jr.; an infant brother, Joseph Guidry; her brother, Craig Anthony Guidry; paternal grandparents, Wilmo and Emily Guidry; maternal grandparents, Bill and Lorene Bevills; her step-mother, Shirley Clements Guidry; and her former husband, Irvin Voisin.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs and nurses of STAT Home Health, St. Joseph Hospice of Lafayette and The Carpenter House of Lafayette for the loving and compassionate care given to Mary in her time of need.
