Merlin Anthony Theriot

Merlin Anthony Theriot, 87, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at his home.
Merlin was born on Sept. 20, 1927, in Morgan City, the son of Milton and Inez Loupe Theriot.
Merlin was affectionately known as Padna by his family. He was a member of the St. Mary Parish Chapter of AARP. Merlin was a master mechanic and master woodworker who loved to restore antiques and was an avid collector of antique clocks and also loved craft work.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Genevieve Mula Theriot, of Morgan City; four nieces, Dr. Karen H. Ordogne, Debby Findley, Josette Siracusa Ward and Julie Siracusa; three nephews, Dale H. Hayes Jr., Thomas P. Hayes and Paul M. Theriot; and one sister, Evelyn Theriot Landry and her husband, Jerry J.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Leroy J. Theriot.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Heart of Hospice, especially Jennifer and Rochel, and would also like to thank J.D. Theriot and Dale Autin for their help in the family’s time of need.
Pallbearers will be Dale Hayes Jr., Dale Hayes III, Luke Ordogne, Thomas Hayes, Mark Ordogne and Tyler Hayes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Twin City Funeral Home and visitation will resume Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Merlin will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum following Mass.
