Michael 'Mike' Joseph Gros

Michael “Mike” Joseph Gros, 53, a resident of Labadieville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at his home.
Mike was born on April 29, 1961, in Morgan City, the son of Jean Gros Sr. and Ella Mae Gros.
Mike was a parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as being a member of the Southern Atchafalaya Sportsman’s Club. He loved being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, or going to the camp. Mike loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather that worked hard to provide for his family. Mike lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger, and was always quick to tell a joke to anyone who would listen.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Darlene Vaughn Gros, of Labadieville; one daughter, Tennille G. Borne and Jeremy Boudreaux Sr., of Berwick; two grandchildren, Carly Borne and Dylan Borne; one step-grandson, Jeremy Boudreaux Jr.; his parents, Jean Gros Sr. and Ella Mae Gros; one brother, Jean Gros Jr. and wife, Dorothy; four sisters, Agnes Gaudet and husband, Elmo Jr., Peggy Marceaux and husband, Harley, Lorena Broussard, and Molly Crews and husband, Paul; father-in-law, Roy Vaughn; one brother-in-law, Jerry Vaughn and wife, Jaunita; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Vaughn, and Betty Hebert and husband, Harry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, John “Lazime” and Emma Acosta Gros, and Claiborne and Carrie Borne Gros.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon today, Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visitation resumed at 9 a.m. until Mass time today at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Mike will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum following Mass.
