NELLIE PICARD DEROUEN

Funeral services for Nellie Picard Derouen will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at 1 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin. She will be laid to rest in the Perpetual Park Cemetery in Franklin. The Rev. Tony Ronsonet will officiate the services. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert’s from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Nellie was a native and resident of Franklin, who enjoyed playing bingo, listening to Zydeco and French music, seafood, and word puzzles. Some of her most treasured passions in life were reading, being with her family and friends, and worshipping her Lord and Savior during services at the Franklin Health Care Center. She went home to her heavenly reward on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Franklin Health Care Center at the age of 79. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Walter J. Derouen Sr.; six children, Katherine Broussard and her husband, Lawrence; Mary Choate and her husband, Horace; Shirley Leger and her husband, Donald Sr.; Walter J. Derouen Jr. and his wife, Dian; Earl Derouen and his wife, Ronda; and Nancy Derouen; three brothers, Charles, Alvin and Andrew Picard; two sisters, Gloria Derouen and Irene Tabb; 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Earlene Clements; one granddaughter, Jennifer Brooks; three grandsons, Donald Derouen, Horace Choate Jr. and Galen Delcambre Jr.; five brothers, Willie, Walter, Adam, Shirley Charles and Milton Picard; two sisters, Mary Mae Mondor and Alicia “Tut” Milling; and her parents, Charles Picard and Marie Dupre Picard Olivier.
Serving as pallbearers will be Walter J. Derouen Jr., Earl Derouen, Johnny Darden, Brad Derouen, Bobby Clements and James Clements. Honorary pallbearer will be Blaine Clements.
