Funeral services for Norman Patrick Hymel, Jr. will be held Friday, Jan.20, 2017, during a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Patterson.
Monsignor J. Douglas Courville, JCL will be the Celebrant for the Mass with Fr. Conley Bertrand, Fr. Randall Moreau, Fr. Michael Russo, and Monsignor Richard Green concelebrating. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Mr. Norman Patrick Hymel, Jr., a former resident of Morgan City and longtime resident of Patterson passed away at the age of 75 on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University. After working in the oilfield for many years, he founded NORMCO Contractors Inc. Following his retirement, he worked closely with the Come, Lord Jesus! program for over 20 years, with a special interest in faith formation of young people.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Merry Beth Barstow Hymel; his son, William Barstow Hymel and his wife Ashley Alfortish Hymel; his daughter, Kathryn Hymel; six grandchildren, Nicolas Patrick Guarisco, Kathryn Ryan Guarisco, Gabrielle Guarisco, John Robert Hymel, Mary Grace Hymel, and William Barstow Hymel, Jr.; great nephew, Don Diaz, Jr.; and great granddaughter, Isabella Elise Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Robert Hymel.
