PAULA JEAN CORTEZ

February 4, 1960 — March 28, 2015
Paula Jean Cortez, 55, a native of Houma and resident of Morgan City passed, away Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Morgan City Health Care.
Paula was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan who would never miss a game if possible. She loved to hunt and fish, and spend her time with her family and friends. Paula was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, proclaiming WOW, What a Ride!”
Paula is survived by her daughter, Celeste Ann Cortez of Stephensville; her granddaughter, Brittany Ann Giroir, also of Stephensville; one sister, Audrey Adams and her husband, Russell, of Sugarland, Texas; two brothers, Marvin Ellis Sr. and his wife, Danette, and Gary Ellis Sr. and his wife, Lisa, both of Bayou L’Ourse; four nieces, Leslie Ann Moore, Kathy Gamble, Kerry Ellis and Brittany Foster; three nephews, Jacob Joseph Breaux, Marvin Ellis Jr. and Gary Ellis Jr.; along with her close friend and former husband, Ricky Cortez.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Bessie Ellis; and one brother, Jimmy Ellis.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Twin City Funeral Home beginning at 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following the service.
