Rev. Donald Ray

September 20, 1939 — February 11, 2015
The Rev. Donald Ray, a native of Bayou Sorrell and a resident of Bayou L’Ourse, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, while surrounded by his family.
Rev. Donald was the pastor of Victory Baptist Church of Plaquemine, a calling he took great pride in. In previous years, Rev. Donald worked for the City of Morgan City as the head of Public Works. Rev. Donald will be forever missed and remembered by both his home family and church family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Janell Kelly Ray; two sons, Donald Gene Ray and his wife, Crystal, of Bayou L’Ourse, and Ivan Ray and his fiancé, Katherine Yates, of Patterson; one daughter, Kelly Wiggins and her husband, Jamie, of Bayou L’Ourse; seven grandchildren, Daina Ray, David Ray, Jennifer Ray, Jamie Wiggins Jr., Kaysen Wiggins, Aaron Yates, and Nathan Yates; one brother, Lonnie Ray; and two sisters, Faye Williams and Joyce Terrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola Ray; one granddaughter, Jade Wiggins; and a sister, Margaret Williams.
The family requests that visitation be observed today, Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday, Feb. 13, from 8 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Rev. Donald will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
