RUTH S. SINGLETON

Ruth Short Singleton, 90, a native of Gibson and resident of Morgan City, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Visitation will be Monday from 8 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. at the Railroad Avenue Church of Christ in Morgan City, Stanley Rankins officiating. Burial will follow in Union Bethel AME Cemetery in Amelia.
She is survived by two sons, Lionel Singleton Sr. and Anthony Singleton, both of Morgan City; two daughters, Jackie Jones of Morgan City and Dr. Virginia Singleton-Alfred of Lafayette; a sister, Betty Mitchell of Houma; two daughters-in-law; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, a granddaughter, seven brothers and two sisters.
Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
