Salea Brooke Willoughby
July 11, 1989 — November 29, 2014
“Looking back on the memory of the dance we shared ‘neath the stars above. For a moment ... all the world was right, how could we have known that you’d ever say goodbye?” — Garth Brooks, “The Dance.”
Salea Brooke Willoughby, a native and lifelong resident of Patterson, unexpectedly passed away in an automotive accident Saturday morning, Nov. 29, 2014, in Baltimore, Maryland, while visiting a friend over the holiday. She was 25 years old.
Salea leaves to cherish her memory, her father, Wallace Clifton Willoughby II; her mother, Gwen Verret Willoughby; three sisters, two of which she resided with, Calla Paige and Airie Jane; and a Jack Russell Terrier, Diesel.
Salea was a loving, dedicated daughter, with a passion in athletic training. She showed immense drive for her education, having completed her bachelors of science in athletic training from Nicholls State University, and worked as an athletic trainer graduate assistant at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. She was preparing to receive her masters in counseling education, also from Lincoln Memorial. Salea had the bluest eyes, which matched the color of the ocean and a bright smile that lit up everyone’s day. An independent person, she was still a vital part of her family. Salea’s memory will forever be engraved into the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, with visitation resuming Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Salea will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
