THOMAS MILLER RHODES

August 21, 1924 - February 5, 2017
Thomas Miller Rhodes, 92, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, in his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Morgan City, the son of Miller Rhodes and Louise Lombas Rhodes.
Thomas was a man of high esteem and values. He entered in the United States Army and served during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Thomas was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. However, most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by his adoring family.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Mason Rhodes; three daughters, Rita Boudwin and husband Rickie Sr. of Houma, Elizabeth Spencer of Jacksonville, Florida, and Regina Guidry of Morgan City; two sisters, Ruth Jackson and Alice Boudreaux, both of Houston; eight grandchildren, Rickie Boudwin Jr. and wife Mandy, Stephen Spencer and wife Tamela, Joe Spencer, Tom Spencer and wife Joy, Cassie Votaw and husband Troy, Emily Thompson and husband Cade, Leon Guidry and wife Traciel, and Alexis Guidry; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Miller Rhodes and Louise Lombas Rhodes; three brothers, Benny Rhodes, James “Tex” Rhodes and John Rhodes; and granddaughter, Brittany Guidry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, beginning at 11 a.m. Prior to Mass, a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time. Thomas will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with military honors presented by the East St. Mary Veteran’s Funeral Squad.
