YVONNE L. OZIO

Yvonne L. Ozio died peacefully Tuesday morning, May 17, 2016, at the age of 92.
Born in Breaux Bridge, in 1924, she moved to Morgan City after completing her degree in education at SLI (now UL-L). Morgan City has been her home for approximately 70 years. Her commitment was always to her family, her church – Sacred Heart, and her community.
Over the years, she was involved in many activities and organizations. She is best remembered for her joy of cooking, countless fine meals, and many family memories. Her gift boxes of cookies at Christmas were enjoyed by many friends and family members. In 2006, she helped her family compile a family cookbook of 95 favorite recipes. It continues to inspire new generations of her family.
Needlework of various kinds was also a lifelong passion. She shared her work with family and friends. She was most proud of the five quilts she made from 2007 to 2012 – one for each of her five children. They are all unique in design and hand-quilted. “Granny,” as she was affectionately known, was a woman of many talents who valued her long, healthy, and full life.
Yvonne is survived by her five children, Thomas Ozio and Leila Causbie, Paul Ozio, Pauline and David Fulda, Dottie and Greg Ulrich, and Teresa and Andreas Dillenkoffer; 10 grandchildren, Melanie Ulrich, Mathew Ulrich, David Louviere, Anna Ozio, Margie Ozio, Erika Dillenkoffer, Thomas Dillenkoffer, Walter Dillenkoffer, Samuel Ozio and Sarah Ozio; three great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Andrew Dragna; three nieces; and one nephew.
Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Morgan City. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. with burial in the Morgan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s Building Maintenance Fund or to Central Catholic High School in Morgan City.
Hargrave Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.
