Oilfield fishing rodeo to be held Saturday

The third annual Morgan City Oilfield Fishing Rodeo will be held Saturday. Deadline to enter has been extended to Thursday.
It will begin at 6 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.
Weigh-in will be held at the Patterson Area Civic Center.
Categories will be redfish, bass, speckled trout and catfish derby.
Various sponsorship levels are available.
Corporate sponsorships are available for $500 and include one team entry for one category.
Gold sponsorships can be purchased for $1,000 and include one team entry for two categories.
Diamond sponsorships are available for $2,500 and include two team entries for all categories.
Among the various ways sponsorships benefit are various donations the organization gives.
In addition to $11,500 in fishermen’s prize money that was awarded in 2014, $10,000 was given to Nicholls State University’s Petroleum Services Technology program, $5,000 to South Central Louisiana Technical College’s Young Memorial Campus, $1,000 to Boy Scouts of America and $500 to Fallen Warrior Memorial in Morgan City.
For those who would like to participate in the event on a non-sponsored team, the entry fee is $100 per boat per category.
On Friday, a fun golf scramble will be held at 4 p.m. at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild near Patterson.
