Morgan City Oilfield Fishing Rodeo

The Morgan City Oilfield Fishing Rodeo on Aug. 29 presented financial awards, generated from the fourth annual MCOFR that was held May 17. This year, the MCOFR awarded South Central Louisiana Technical College-Young Memorial Campus with an $8,000 donation to be used for student scholarships. Additionally, the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce presented the 2016 Chamber Choice Award of $1,000 to Young Memorial. MCOFR also awarded $1,000 to Boy Scouts of America Troop 49. The Boy Scouts have been an integral part in assisting with rodeo weigh-in efforts and assisting with the rodeo. The fifth annual rodeo will be held June 10, 2017. John Goodroe, left, and Bart Fremin were part of a team that won first-place in the Redfish division at the Morgan City Oilfield Fishing Rodeo earlier this month.
