This Thanksgiving pie is deliciously deceptive. Until you cut into it, it looks like your classic lemon meringue pie, piled high with billows of whipped and toasted egg whites.
LOS ANGELES — Once upon a time, pumpkin spice lived pretty much only in pies.
That was a long time ago.
Who says the Thanksgiving pumpkin dessert has to be a pie? We decided to tinker with tradition just a bit by turning the usual pumpkin pie filling into cannoli.
The Berwick Junior High School PTO recently sponsored a pumpkin decorating contest. Pumpkins entered in the contest will be used to decorate area nursing homes. Winners, seated on the front row, are Jordan Gallegos, most school spirit: Julia Theriot, cutest; Madison Billiot, scariest; Ryan Domingue, goofiest; Grant Hebert, sportiest; Tyler Thibodeaux, funniest; and Landon Broussard, creepiest. In the second row are Nicole Breaux, Katelyn Richard, Arianna Morrison, Madeline Bourgeois, Hannah Percle, Yulissa Lozano, Blain Louviere, Deja Legendre, Katie Conrad, Lauren Cantrelle, Scott Price and Kory Landry. In the third row are Peyton Anslem, Angelo Spitale, Rustin Scarbrough, Emily Scully, Christina Aman, Braxton Laurent and Kyla Hughes. In the fourth row are Kate Hicks, Alaina Cuvillier, Eric Guillot, Trevor Wiggins, Krisalina Stratton, Brady Hughes, Brennan Rachal, Lindsie Giroir, Hannah Beadle, Kade Champine, Matthew Broussard, Joshua Sanford, and Bronwyn Colbert. In the fifth row are Seth Giroir, Kaitlyn Welch, Haley Derouen, Patrick Parro, Giuliana Spitale, Luke Orlando, Linda Carpenter, Madison Blakeman, Riley Dubois, Hannah Bailey, Raeph Hinson and Chloe Cortez.
