Ex-LSU standout Randy Livingston is Tigers’ new assistant coach

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Former LSU point guard Randy Livingston is joining the Tigers’ basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Livingston, whose promising college career was cut short by knee injuries, will join the program as an assistant under coach Johnny Jones. The hiring, announced Tuesday, must still be approved by the LSU Board of Supervisors.
Livingston, who will be inducted into the New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame on Aug. 6, had a standout career at Newman High School, sharing National Prep Player of the year honors with Jason Kidd in 1992 and Rasheed Wallace in 1993.
The Houston Rockets selected Livingston in the second round of the 1996 NBA Draft. His 11-year career included stints with Atlanta, Phoenix, Golden State, Seattle, New Orleans, the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah and Chicago.
