Berwick routs Kaplan, 50-12

Berwick High School recorded its second consecutive rout with a 50-12 victory against Kaplan Monday in Berwick’s home opener.
The lopsided victory comes after finishing in third place in Ascension Episcopal’s tournament last week with a 66-22 victory against Erath.
In Monday’s contest, Berwick led just 10-6 after the first quarter but outscored Kaplan 15-2 in the second period and 11-2 in the third for a 36-10 advantage after three quarters.
Berwick allowed Kaplan to score just four points in the second half.
Donald Tillman led the Panthers with 17 points, while Audwin Williams also reached double figures with 13 points.
Other scorers for the Panthers included Larenz Clark with eight; Tysin Meads, five; and Jeremy Engleton, four.
Berwick (3-1) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche in an 8 p.m. contest against Central Catholic.
Morgan City knocks off
North Vermilion
Morgan City High School knocked off North Vermilion 47-44 in Morgan City Thursday.
Tywaun Walker led Morgan City with 14 points, while Jalen Jones had 13 and Makye Richard, 11.
Other scorers for Morgan City included Lloyd Singleton, six; and Brady Fryou, three.
The Tigers (5-1) will not return to action until Dec. 9 when they travel to face Franklin in a 6 p.m. contest.
