Bewick tops Ellender, 3-0

The Berwick Lady Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-10) win against Ellender on the road Tuesday.
Berwick, who had last won on Sept. 1 against Ascension Catholic, totaled 43 kills and 109 digs in Tuesday’s win.
Mary Jordan Melancon led Berwick with six kills, 21 assists and 23 digs. Other top contributors included Alyssa Gray, 13 kills, one block, 11 assists and eight digs; Brittany Roberie, one ace and 30 digs; Emma Hover, 23 digs; Roslyn Gros, two aces, one kill and 15 digs; Lauren Skinner, 10 kills, one set and one dig; and Sydney Aucoin, eight kills and two digs.
In junior varsity action, Berwick fell 2-0 (25-16, 25-12), while in freshman action, the Lady Panthers fell 2-0 (25-19, 25-21).
Berwick (2-7) will return to action today when it makes the short trip to face Patterson in a 4 p.m. contest.
Morgan City defeats Delcambre
Morgan City snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 (25-13, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18) win against Delcambre in Morgan City Tuesday.
As a team, Morgan City totaled 41 kills.
Abby Reynaud led the Lady Tigers with one kill, 34 assists and four digs. Other top contributors included Paige Loftin, 14 kills and one dig; Karmen Peterson, nine kills, two aces and two solo blocks; Mckenzi Smith, three kills, two aces and eight digs; Sh’Diamond Holly, 10 kills; Katelyn Gautreaux, five digs; and Emily Boudreaux, two aces and three digs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-20, 25-7).
As a team, Morgan City had nine aces.
Jolee Nini led the Lady Tigers with one kill, six assists and two aces. Other top contributors included Hallie Blanchard, three kills, one ace and two digs; Peterson, three kills and two aces; Daysha Tivet, two aces and three digs; and Jamia Francois, three kills and one solo block.
In freshman action, Morgan City defeated Delcambre 2-1 (13-25, 25-16, 15-9).
As a team, Morgan City had nine aces.
Deryon Johnson led Morgan City with one kill, five aces and one dig. Other top contributors included Francois, four kills, one dig and one solo block; Sarajane Nini, four assists and one dig; and Emilena Perot, three aces and one dig.
Morgan City (2-6) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in its annual Lady Tiger Classic Thursday. Morgan City will face Houma Christian at 5 p.m. and H.L. Bourgeois at 7 p.m.
CCHS beats Catholic High-P.C. in five sets
Central Catholic defeated Catholic High-Pointe Coupee 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 25-6, 15-4) on the road Tuesday.
As a team, Central Catholic had 38 kills, 13 aces and 12 solo blocks.
Katie Hoffpauir led Central Catholic with one kill, 18 assists, seven aces and four digs. Other top contributors included Quincee Wiggins, seven kills and 12 digs; Hallie Autin, seven kills, one assist, nine digs and one solo block; Ava Nicar, eight kills, one assist, five digs and three solo blocks; Yani Johnson, five kills, an assist, one dig and eight solo blocks; Taylor Picou, two kills, 10 assists and one dig; Emma Aucoin, one kill and six digs; and Rebecca David, one block assist.
Central Catholic (9-5) will return to action Thursday when it hosts East Ascension.
