CCHS to meet Hanson Thursday in Franklin

Central Catholic will travel to face Hanson Memorial Thursday in District 7-1A play.
While both teams’ Louisiana High School Athletic Association schedules had the games marked as this Friday, Central Catholic Coach Tommy Minton said he was informed last week the game actually was scheduled for Thursday.
Hanson enters Thursday’s game with a 2-5 overall mark, including a 1-3 record in district play.
The Tigers have beaten Hamilton Christian in nondistrict action and Centerville in district play.
A week ago, the Tigers fell to district foe Lafayette Christian, 50-33.
Hanson averages 21.7 points a game and surrenders 35.9 points a contest.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic (4-3 overall, 2-1 in district) has won three straight games.
After starting the season 1-3, the Eagles have collected victories against Centerville, Highland Baptist and Vermilion Catholic.
The Eagles welcomed back Chris Singleton last week against Vermilion Catholic. Singleton had been sidelined since a week 4 injury against Lafayette Christian.
In his return, Singleton rushed 37 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns, including the game winner with 11:46 remaining.
Through seven games, Singleton and teammate Bailey Badeaux have nearly identical rushing totals. Badeaux has 85 carries for 519 yards and six scores, while singleton has 95 carries for 514 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Quarterback Blake Byrne has completed 42 of 87 passes for 683 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions. He also has rushed 38 times for 173 yards and three scores.
Samarick Paul leads Central Catholic’s receivers with 23 receptions for 347 yards and three scores, while teammate Gregory Leger has eight catches for 262 yards and three touchdowns.
Central Catholic averages 33 points a game, while its defense surrenders 22.2 points a game.
The Eagles offense averages approximately 300 yards a contest, while its defense surrenders about 250 yards a game.
