CCHS, Patterson win first-round playoff games

Central Catholic and Patterson were victorious in their high school football playoff games tonight.
No. 3 Central Catholic (10-1) defeated No. 14 Grambling 60-38 in Division IV first-round action, while No. 4 Patterson (9-2) knocked off No. 29 Ville Platte 21-16 in Class 3A first-round action.
In Central Catholic's win, Central Catholic led 22-14 after the first quarter, 38-14 at the half and 52-30 after three quarters.
Stefano Guarisco rushed for 285 yards and accounted for five total scores -- three rushing, an 82-yard kickoff return and a 15-yard reception.
Meanwhile, at Patterson, the Lumberjacks' defense needed a late stop to secure the victory.
Patterson trailed 8-7 after a quarter but took the lead at 14-8 at the half and extended its lead to 21-8 after three quarters.
Patterson will return to action next week when it hosts No. 13 West Feliciana. West Feliciana advanced with a 62-38 victory against No. 20 Jennings.
Meanwhile, in Division IV, Central Catholic will take on No. 6 Southern Lab next week. Southern Lab advanced with a 49-14 victory against No. 11 St. John.
