Central Catholic upsets South Terrebonne in Pink Game

Central Catholic won its annual Pink Game with an upset victory against South Terrebonne in four games.
The Lady Eagles, ranked No. 8 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division V Power Rankings, defeated the Lady Gators, ranked No. 4 in Division II, 3-1 (25-17, 26-24, 16-25, 25-13).
Prior to the game, Kathy Callais of Berwick, who has been in remission from breast cancer, was recognized and performed the game’s honorary first serve. Callais is the grandmother of Central Catholic High School freshman volleyball player Sinclair Calais and Holy Cross Elementary sixth grader Charlotte Calais.
Also before the game, the Central Catholic volleyball team gathered for a check presentation to Debbie Acosta of Oncologics totaling more than $1,000. The money will be used to fight breast cancer.
As for the match, Central Catholic totaled 42 kills, 91 digs and 11 solo blocks.
Quincee Wiggins led the Lady Eagles with 14 kills, one assist, two aces, 19 digs and one solo block. Other top contributors included Katie Hoffpauir, 24 kills and 11 digs; Hallie Autin, 10 kills, one assist, one ace and 15 digs; Ava Nicar, three kills and 13 digs; Taylor Picou, one kill, eight assists, one ace and three digs; Brooke Lipari, 13 digs; Sydney Williams, seven kills, four digs and one solo block; Yani Johnson, six kills, one dig and three solo blocks; Bayli Scully, one assist, one ace and eight digs; and Rebecca David, one kill, one assist, one dig and five solo blocks.
On Monday, Central Catholic fell to Dominican, 3-1 (15-25, 25-20, 16-25, 22-25).
As a team, Central Catholic recorded 77 digs and 22 solo blocks.
Hoffpauir led the Lady Eagles with one kill, 14 assists and 11 digs. Other top contributors included Autin, six kills, one assist, one ace, 12 digs and three solo blocks; Wiggins, seven kills and 13 digs; Picou, one kill, nine assists and nine digs; Johnson, nine kills and eight solo blocks; Scully, two aces and 15 digs; Nicar, four kills and five digs; Lipari, eight digs; David, two kills, one dig and four solo blocks; and Caroline Green, five solo blocks.
On Saturday at Academy of Our Lady, Central Catholic defeated De La Salle, but fell to Academy of Our Lady.
Against De La Salle, Central Catholic won 2-1 (25-11, 19-25, 15-9).
Central Catholic totaled nine aces and 10 solo blocks.
Autin led the Lady Eagles with eight kills, one assist, 11 digs and one solo block. Other top offensive contributors included Picou, four kills, six assists and five digs; Wiggins, four kills and 10 digs; Johnson, four kills and six solo blocks; Hoffpauir, five assists, one ace and four digs; Emma Aucoin, four aces and six digs; and Green, one kill and two solo blocks.
Against Academy of Our Lady, Central Catholic fell 2-0 (25-21, 25-20).

Other top contributors included Wiggins, three kills, one assist, nine digs and one solo block; Picou, three kills, four assists and five digs; Hoffpauir, five assists, one ace and one dig; Aucoin, two aces and three digs; Johnson, two kills and two solo blocks; and Green, two solo blocks.
Central Catholic (12-7) will return to action Thursday when it hosts South Lafourche.
Morgan City
sweeps Patterson
Morgan City swept Patterson 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-17) in nondistrict volleyball action at Morgan City Tuesday.
As a team, Morgan City recorded nine aces in the victory.
Abby Reynaud led the Lady Tigers with 16 assists and one ace. Other top contributors included Karmen Peterson, five kills, five aces, three digs and two solo blocks; Nia Lightfoot, eight kills, one dig and two solo blocks; Katelyn Gautreaux, 11 digs; Mckenzi Smith, five kills; Brandi Albarado, five digs; and Emily Boudreaux, two aces.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-21, 25-14).
Jolee Nini led the Lady Tigers with two kills, seven assists, two aces and one dig. Other top contributors included Peterson, three kills, two aces, six digs and one solo block; Lightfoot, five kills, two aces, one dig and one solo block; Hallie Blanchard, two kills, three aces, three digs and one solo block; and Daysha Tivet, three aces and one dig.
No individual varsity or junior varsity statistics were available for Patterson.
Patterson will return to action Thursday when it hosts Thibodaux, while Morgan City will hit the court again today when it travels to face Assumption. Assumption is ranked No. 2 in the latest Division 2 Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings. Morgan City is ranked No. 21 in Division III.
Assumption defeats
Berwick
Assumption defeated Berwick 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-9) in nondistrict action in Berwick Tuesday.
No individual stats were available.
Assumption entered the contest ranked No. 2 in the latest Division 2 Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings, while Berwick is No. 15 in Division 3.
Berwick won’t return to action until Tuesday when it opens District 8-III play at home against Morgan City.
