'Jacks finish weekend 1-1 at tourney

The Patterson High School Lumberjacks finished 1-1 this weekend at St. Martinville’s Holiday Shootout.
While Patterson fell Saturday in its opener to Breaux Bridge, 52-46, Patterson rebounded Sunday with a 59-57 victory against David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy.
In Sunday’s game, Taylan Grogan led Patterson with 24 points, while Nehemiah Augustus also reached double figures with 10 points. Kenneth Washington added nine points.
A day earlier against Breaux Bridge, Patterson led for three quarters before falling in the fourth to the Tigers.
Augustus led Patterson with 19 points, while Grogan scored 12. Augustus and Grogan combined for seven three-pointers — Augustus had four and Grogan, three.
Patterson (6-3) will return to action today at the tournament when it faces Thibodaux in a 1 p.m. consolation contest.
Berwick returns
to action today
The Berwick Panthers will hit the court again today when it begins action in North Vermilion’s tournament.
The Panthers will face Rayne today in a 4:30 p.m. contest before meeting Iota Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Berwick (9-7) will close the tournament Wednesday with a 6 p.m. contest against St. Louis. St. Louis was a Class 3A semifinalist a year ago.
CCHS opened play today
at E.D. White’s tourney
Central Catholic opened play today at 12:30 p.m. against Central Lafourche in E.D. White’s Cardinal Classic.
The game is the first of three the Eagles (2-5) will play in the tournament as they will face host E.D. White Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. before meeting Lusher Charter School at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
