'Jacks top Erath, 36-26

The Patterson Lumberjacks remained undefeated in District 8-3A action with a 36-26 victory at Erath Tuesday.
Ahead just 9-8 after a period of play, Patterson outscored Erath, 11-2, in the second period for a 20-10 halftime lead.
While Erath cut its deficit to 27-20 after three quarters, Patterson outscored the home team, 9-3, in the fourth period for the final margin.
Tyric Garrett and Elijah Williams led Patterson with eight points apiece. Other Patterson scorers included Drew Lucas, five; Kai Schexnayder, four; Caleb Evans, three; and Kamiah Jones, Jordan Butler, Irvin Celestine and James Butler, two points each.
Patterson (9-7 overall, 4-0 in district play) will return to action Friday when it hosts North Vermilion in a 7 p.m. contest.
MCHS falls
to Ellender
Morgan City High School jumped out to a huge lead, but Ellender came roaring back and eventually took a competitive game, 87-80, in District 7-4A action in Houma Tuesday.
While Morgan City led 27-10 after the first quarter, Ellender rallied in the second period with a 33-13 scoring advantage for a 43-41 halftime lead.
Morgan City countered with a 23-16 advantage in the third quarter for a 64-59 lead after three quarters.
However, Ellender outscored the Tigers, 28-16, in the fourth quarter for the final score.
Ellender entered the game ranked No. 5 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A power rankings, while Morgan City is ranked No. 29.
Tywaun Walker and Makye Richard led Morgan City with 17 points apiece.
Morgan City (11-7, 1-2) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts Westgate. The game will be the Tigers’ second top 5 Class 4A test in as many days as Westgate is ranked No. 4 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings.
Patterson Lumberjills
fall to Erath
Erath High School outscored Patterson in every quarter en route to a 61-30 victory in District 8-3A action in Erath Tuesday.
Erath led 21-7 after a quarter, 35-16 at halftime and 48-19 after three quarters.
Nyla Holder and Kemprielle Williams led Patterson with 11 points apiece. Other scorers included Makayla Ruiz and La’Travia Perro, three each; and Kemiah Watson, two.
Patterson (3-10, 0-6) will hit the court again Friday when it hosts North Vermilion in district action. The game is set for a 6 p.m. tip. North Vermilion is ranked No. 7 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A power rankings, while Patterson is ranked No. 34.
Ellender routs
MCHS Lady Tigers
The Ellender Patriots eased past the Morgan City Lady Tigers, 82-29, in District 7-4A action in Houma Tuesday.
Ellender led 21-4 after a quarter of play, 52-10 at halftime and 70-22 at the conclusion of three quarters.
Ellender entered the game ranked No. 5 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A power rankings, while Morgan City is ranked No. 18.
Alisha Singleton led Morgan City with 11 points. Other scorers included Sh’Diamond Holly, six; Nia Lightfoot, five; Ta’Janaye Hawkins, four; and Twanna LeBeau, three.
Morgan City (5-7, 0-3) will return to action Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts South Terrebonne in district play.
