'Jills improve to 2-0 in district

Patterson rode a huge fourth-quarter en route to a 43-29 victory against Franklin in the Lumberjills’ District 8-3A home opener Tuesday.
While Patterson entered the fourth quarter down 27-26, the Lumberjills outscored the Lady Hornets 17-2 in the final period en route to the victory.
With the win, the Lumberjills improve to 2-0 in district play.
Patterson led 8-7 at the end of the first quarter and 15-14 at halftime.
The Lumberjills hit six three-pointers in the contest.
Makayla Ruiz led three Patterson players in double figures with 12 points.
Other scorers included Alex Benjamin, 11 points; Erykah Singleton, 10; Kem Williams, six; and Nyla Holder and Kemiah Watson, two apiece.
Patterson (5-5) will get a lengthy break as the squad will not return to action until Jan. 8 when it hosts Kaplan in District 8-3A action in a 6 p.m. contest.
Morgan City falls
to Riverside
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to Riverside Academy at home, 46-41 Tuesday.
Morgan City trailed 13-10 after the first quarter but took a 19-18 lead into halftime.
Riverside outscored Morgan City 14-9 in the third quarter for a 32-28 lead after three quarters.
Alisha Singleton led Morgan City in double figures with 14 points.
Other scorers included Laqwaijha Bourgeois, 12 points; Sh’Diamond Holly, eight; Elicia Dorsey, three; and Meya Morse and Hailey Lewis, two apiece.
Morgan City (4-6) won’t return to action until Jan. 4 when it travels to face Plaquemine High School in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Berwick drops
district opener
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell 34-20 to North Vermilion Tuesday in Berwick in the Lady Panthers’ District 8-3A opener.
Jordan Lipari led the squad with 11 points, while Mary Jordan Melancon added eight.
Berwick won’t return to action until Jan. 5 when it travels to face Franklin in district contest set for 6 p.m.
CCHS falls to Brusly
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles fell to Brusly, 47-34, Tuesday in Central Catholic’s Christmas Classic.
Lydia Rivas led Central Catholic with 14 points, while Hallie Autin scored nine.
On Monday, Central Catholic edged Vandebilt Catholic, 40-38.
Rivas led the team with 13 points, while Autin scored 10.
Central Catholic (8-4) won’t return to action until Dec. 29 when it travels to take on the Academy of Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau.
