Lady Eagles defeat Lady Panthers

Central Catholic High School’s Lady Eagles (7-1A) swooped in for a win Thursday night against the neighboring Berwick High School Lady Panthers (8-3A). The contest was played on the Lady Eagles’ home court in Morgan City.
High scorers for the 41-20 contest were Lady Eagle’s Yani Johnson with 21 points while teammate Hallie Autin contributed 12. Top scores for the Lady Panthers were Sydney Aucoin with eight and Jordan Lipari had four.
Berwick’s next contest will be tonight at 6 p.m. against Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge.
Central Catholic will play starting Saturday in the Vandebilt Catholic Tournament in Houma.
Other local schedules show Morgan City Lady Tigers home Wednesday at 6 p.m. against H.L. Bourgeois. The Patterson Lumberjills’ Monday home against West St. Mary has been canceled. The team will play at 5 p.m. Dec. 16 on the road against North Vermilion.
On the boys’ side, Berwick’s schedule has them at 5 p.m. tonight in Baton Rouge playing Christian Life, Central Catholic plays on the road at 7 p.m. Tuesday against H.L. Bourgeois while Morgan City’s home game Tuesday against Hahnville has been canceled. The MCHS Tigers' next scheduled game is at 5 p.m. Thursday against North Vermilion in the Lumberjack Invitational. Patterson will hold its Lumberjack Invitational Dec. 15-17.
