Lady Eagles defeat Lady Panthers

Central Catholic High School’s Lady Eagles (7-1A) swooped in for a win Thursday night against the neighboring Berwick High School Lady Panthers (8-3A).

Winning pitcher Megan Landry, center, of the Central Catholic High School Lady Eagles shows her excitement Saturday evening after striking out the last batter to clinch the Class 1A state championship. The Lady Eagles defeated defending state champs Cedar Creek 6-4 at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Championship Tournament in Sulphur. They defeated Ascension Catholic on Friday and Catholic High-Pointe Coupee earlier Saturday, both close games ended with a score of 1-0. Landry had complete games in each of the contests. Celebrating with Landry is third baseman Kaitlyn Gros, left and shortstop Brooke Lipari.
