Lady Tiger bowlers win

The Morgan City girls’ bowling team started off their season with a 21-6 victory against Vandebilt Catholic, the 2014 girls’ state runner-up.
Hannah Pipes led Morgan City with a 610 series (204, 210, 196).
Other top games for the Lady Tigers included Meghan Amador with scores of 159 and 182; Ali Tregle, 190; Rylee Sartwell, 141; Marissa Davis, 138 and 137; Laura Nolazco, 139; and Marissa Davis, 137.
A year ago, Vandebilt Catholic handed Morgan City its only loss of the season as the Houma school defeated Morgan City for the right to advance to the state’s final four and eliminated Morgan City from postseason play.
In boys’ action, Morgan City fell 25-2 to defending state champion Vandebilt Catholic.
In Wednesday’s match, Zachary Stewart led Morgan City with games of 160 and 170.
Other top bowlers included Jonathan Spinella, 162; Jason Myers, 158; Hau Vo, 156; Jayson Hidalgo, 156; and Joey Jeter, 154.
