The Central Catholic Lady Eagles fought Lafayette Christian, Class 1A’s seventh-ranked squad, to the end but came up short, 35-33, in District 7-1A action in Morgan City Friday.
Jalaysia Bertrand led the Lady Eagles with 11 points.
Other scorers included Halie Autin, nine; Lydia Rivas, seven; Yani Johnson, four; and Sydney Williams, two.
Central Catholic (12-10 overall, 4-6 in District 7-1A) will continue District 7-1A action Tuesday when it hosts Centerville in District 7-1A action set for a 5 p.m. start.
Morgan City falls in overtime
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to Assumption in overtime, 55-53, in District 7-4A action on the road Friday.
The game was much closer than the Lady Tigers’ 58-38 loss to Assumption at home earlier this month.
Laqqwaijha Bourgeois led Morgan City with 30 points, while Sh’Diamond Holly also reached double figures with 15 points.
Other scorers included Hailey Lewis, four; and Steveyion Walker and Alisha Singleton, two points apiece.
Morgan City (5-13, 1-6) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts South Lafourche in District 7-4A action. Tip is set for approximately 6:30 p.m.
Berwick falls
to Franklin
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to Franklin 43-30 in District 8-3A action in Berwick Friday.
No individual statistics were available for Berwick.
The Lady Panthers (1-15, 0-9) will return to action when it travels today to face Erath in District 8-3A action.
