McCorkle wins national weekly kicking award

Berwick High School senior kicker John McCorkle was named Kohl’s Kicking National Player of the Week after connecting on a game-winning field goal against North Vermilion in the Panthers’ Week 10 contest.
McCorkle connected on the 23-yard field goal with 15 seconds remaining in the District 8-3A contest to propel the Panthers past the Patriots, 31-30.
It was his first made field goal of the season.
McCorkle also was 2-for-2 on point-after attempts in the game.
Berwick, which advanced to the postseason for the first time in 20 years, fell this past Friday to Brusly, 52-36.
In that contest, McCorkle was 4-for-4 on extra point attempts.
He finished his senior season with 23 total points: 20 extra point attempts and one field goal.
The Panthers finished the 2016 season with an 8-3 mark, including a 4-2 mark in district play.
